What is PokoPicasso?

PokoPicasso is a free, browser-based 3D town planner and design tool for Pokémon Pokopia. You can use it without an account, or create a free account to work across devices and share builds with friends. I’ve spent hundreds of hours building PokoPicasso and recreating Pokopia’s blocks, materials, paint colors, objects, and water behavior to give you an accurate preview of your design.

Made by a fan, for fellow builders!

I made PokoPicasso to make planning large builds easier. I get frustrated when I’m building a house and realize that a room needs to be one block wider. Designing the house in advance means this kind of change takes minutes instead of hours of tedious rebuilding.

What makes PokoPicasso different

Accurate diagonal gaps

Unlike Minecraft and many other block games, Pokopia blocks can leave diagonal gaps you can see through, and water can flow through them. PokoPicasso recreates this behavior, letting you use those gaps as windows in a castle or fill them to prevent leaks. A design that looks solid in another voxel editor may contain unexpected holes when you rebuild it in Pokopia.

Preview your paint colors

Painting a large build in Pokopia takes time, and it can be difficult to tell whether a color combination will work before you commit to it. PokoPicasso lets you preview painted blocks and objects together, so you can experiment with colors before recreating the design in-game.

Plan large builds quickly

Place blocks one at a time when you need precision, or use shape and sculpting tools to place thousands at once. Move, resize, duplicate, rotate, and flip parts of your design instead of rebuilding them block by block.

Build houses faster

Use special drawing modes for roofs, ladders, and fences to make houses more easily. Add furniture, windows, stairs, and decorations to work out the details before building them in Pokopia.

Preview flowing water

Water looks nice, but it can be hard to work with in Pokopia. I studied and recreated its behavior so that builders can plan around it more easily. PokoPicasso simulates how water flows, falls, and spreads with high accuracy, so you can see how a pond or waterfall will turn out before building it in-game. You can also use it to plan underwater builds.

Save and share

Save your project on your device, or create a free account to sync it across devices and share it with a link. Friends can open your build without an account and, if you allow copying, continue from their own copy.

Made by hand

Every material texture and object icon in PokoPicasso is recreated manually rather than extracted from the game. Each one is carefully tuned for paint-color accuracy and takes about an hour to make on average.

Frequently asked questions

Is PokoPicasso free to use?

Yes. PokoPicasso is completely free, with no ads, nothing to download, and no account required to start planning your town. I personally cover the server and hosting costs.

Do I need an account?

No. You can plan and save a town entirely in your browser without signing in. A free account is only needed for cloud sync and sharing, allowing your projects to follow you between devices and letting you share them by link.

Does PokoPicasso work on mobile?

It’s actually designed mobile-first! It runs in your phone or tablet’s browser, with touch controls for placing blocks and moving the camera, though a larger screen or mouse can make precise placement easier.

Can I share my town with other players?

Yes. With a free account you can generate a share link for a saved project; anyone can open that link and view your town without needing an account of their own. You choose whether the link also lets them make their own copy to keep building on.

Is PokoPicasso an official Pokopia tool?

No. PokoPicasso is an independent, fan-made planning tool built to help players plan before they build in-game. It isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the makers of Pokopia.

Where is my project saved?

By default, your project is saved locally in your browser on your own device. With a free account, it can also sync to the cloud so you can keep planning from a different computer or phone.
